Fab Shop Sizzle Reel

Project

Create a long form and sort form videos that will be used to promote the experiential fabrication expertise of the Fab Shop. These videos will be shown on the GMR Marketing Website and its social channels to raise awareness of the Fab Shops capabilities and attract potential clients.

First we met with the owners and managers of fab shop to discuss the needs of the project, what they need out of it and how they envision this project coming to life as. next we got a virtual tour of the space. to better  understand of how the shop operates. the virtual tour showed how flexible the footprint is and how they could utilize the space for different size projects at any given time. seeing the different machinery and the way that the space comes to life is very interesting and provided a lot of insight into the workings of the Fab Shop as a whole.

The next step was to figure out how we wanted to showcase the abilities of the Fab Shop, being that they’re creators, innovators, fabricators and overall highly skilled technicians. We needed to look at the Fab Shop through the lens of technology and innovation. So I put together a deck of concepts that showed executions that used these attributes to bring forth that candor of the group. We looked at different ways of shooting the video, different camera angles and different transition techniques to showcase Fab Shop’s talents. One of the techniques that the Fab Shop gravitated towards was mounting cameras to various shop materials and equipment so that you got a very different perspective of the shop.

This was one of my first projects at GMR. With the help of the videographer we were able to impress internal stakeholders with our 1st round presentation. That moved us into production quickly. Without prior knowledge, our distinct style, matched with other rebranding opportunities that were happening within GMR. So upper management showed us other rebrand projects that were happening within the company so that we could be completely aligned.

After buy off from management, we came up with all the questions that we wanted to ask the managers of the fab shop. and these questions dealt with how they approach projects from as large as super bowl down to smaller more intimate projects. the way that they approach each project, it’s with the same level of care and finesse, so through answering the questions and splicing in the unique camera angles. and videography. the biography of the group came together really, really well. everyone was super impressed with the project and how it turned out.

Project Goal

Following up with the managers of Fab Shop, they use the project today as a way to atain clients, as an online recruiting tool and internally as a hype video for new employee training.

Major Win

The look and feel of the chosen direction just happened to coincide with other internal rebrands that were happening within GMR without my knowledge so much so that management opted to show us other internal rebrand projects that they were working on. It felt awesome to be “relevant” inside the agency and  to be able align with other initiatives.

So the major win so innovative in our thought and process that we were in line with other things that were happening within the agency. Um, so it was, it was a really, really good feeling to know that coming into GMR I was producing work that was on par with how management felt the company should be moving forward.
