NFL Big Data Bowl
The National Football League announced the inaugural NFL Big Data Bowl, a football analytics competition affording college students and professionals the opportunity to utilize historical data sets of the same player tracking data used by teams and suggest innovations about how football is played and coached.
Finalists had the unique opportunity to present to the league and club personnel at the 2019 Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, accessing NFL player tracking data used by teams to analyze league trends and develop on-field strategies.
Style Guide
The NFL Big Data Bowl Style Guide (slide show) is a comprehensive overview of the elements supplied to design print, digital and environmental assets for the event.
Included in this style guide are branding elements covering logos and custom type, all design elements and a “how to” guide to build the final applications. The style guide is used by the in house creative department, marketing and all of our external sponsors and vendors.
Logo Design Process
The goal was to develop a logo for the first-ever NFL Big Data Bowl. The event featured college students and recent college graduates’ ideas on how to advance the use of statistics, filling in knowledge gaps, for issues facing the League. The primary target audience was undergraduate and graduate students who were interested in sports statistics.
The tone are modern, youthful, aspirational and competitive.
The options presented for the NFL Big Data Bowl logo were inspired by laptop computers, football stats, the spirit of competition, youth culture, data analytics, coding and infographics.
