Bumpboxx X Jordan Brand Case Study
The ask was to create a custom Bumpboxx design for the leadership team at Jordan Brand that could be personalized.
The project presented a unique opportunity to create something iconic, drawing inspiration from the top-selling Jordan brand sneakers. We were privileged to have access to the company's iconic brand elements, including patterns, logos, and brand toolkits, allowing us to craft a design that truly embodies the essence of Jordan Brand.
The challenge was clear-how do you capture the essence of a Nike sneaker in a Bumpboxx design? How do you translate the vibrant elements of sneaker culture into an electronic product? Our goal was to create a design that not only matched the coolness and relevance of the sneaker but also incorporated a level of customization that recognized each team member.
The chosen direction was a Bumpboxx inspired by one of the Jordan brand sneakers. But we had to figure out how symbolically we could recreate the sneaker around the Bumpboxx's dimensions. So we wanted a realistic interpretation of the sneaker to be carried out through the design, so we wanted a top, a midsole, and a bottom that could be seen when looking at the Bumpboxx up close. So, including those fine details inherent in the sneaker was important to replicate the graphic as it wrapped around the Bumpboxx.
As we were figuring out the design of the Bumpboxx, we had to keep in mind that each one needed an element of customization, which included the names of each of the people from Nike and their favorite number. So, the speaker grills were chosen to place these alternating graphics. During production, the run of Bumpboxx wraps could be completed separately, while the personalized, customized speaker grills could be printed independently but at the same time.
The Jordan Brand team was impressed by the iconic design, and seeing their names printed on the speaker grills of the Bumpboxx was an immediate payoff. So, all in all, everyone was happy. This was also such a pivotal moment for the owners of Bumpboxes. They scored a huge client and had custom Jordan Brand Bumpboxes made for themselves.
